
Godolphin’s ultra consistent mare Cinsault resumes from a spell with new trainer Michael Freedman at the Newcastle Jockey Clubs race meeting on the Beaumont track on Saturday and her trial form indicates she is ready to win. Under James Cummings Cinsault was never out of a place in nine starts recording one win and eight placings and the 4-year-old performs on wet or dry tracks. She lines up in the 1250 metre All Park Projects Benchmark 64 Handicap.
Cinsault came from near last at the top of the straight when narrowly beaten by the speedy Harry in a Randwick trial on November 21. On December 2 the mare ran down the speedy Way To The Stairs when under no pressure in a Canterbury trial. Mitchell Bell rode Cinsault in her last start 3.5 length win at Kembla on July 26 and he has the mount on Saturday.
The Freedman stable is also sending the lightly raced Zoustar filly Had It All to Newcastle to contest the 1200 metre Steel & Stone F&M Maiden handicap. The 3-year-old was beaten 3.61 lengths in a Warwick Farm 2-year-old Maiden in her only start on October 16. She has had two recent trials and impressed with a close second coming from second last in a soft Canterbury trial on December 2. Had It All has barrier 2 and Keagan Latham has the mount.
Kris Lees, 3-year-old filly Odaka narrowly beaten into third place first up at Hawkesbury when well backed on November 27 can atone in the 1350 metre Rarity Wholesale Provincial Maiden Plate. The daughter of Ole Kirk raced in stronger company early in the year and she draws nicely in barrier 2 and with stable apprentice Ben Osmonds 1.5 kilogram claim she is very well weighted with 54 kilograms under the set weight conditions.
Chris Waller has a nicely bred Kiwi Monopolistic on debut int eh opening event the 1200 metre Cleanway CG&E Maiden Handicap. The 3-year-old Savabeel gelding from the lightly raced Fastnet Rock mare Bayrock has a number of high-profile racing identities in the ownership, and he has been impressive in recent Rosehill and Canterbury trials. Monopolistic was allowed to drift back in a Rosehill trial on November 18 and given a dig int eh straight won the trial narrowly. On December 2 he was narrowly beaten under little pressure, and he easily beat Michaelangelo which bolted in at Wyong on Wednesday. Monopolistic has barrier 2 with Lee Magorrian in the saddle.
Crop Duster will benefit from apprentice Leeshelle Smalls 3-kilogram allowance in the 1150 metre Gary Sheppard Memorial Christmas Plate Benchmark 68 Handicap. The 6-year-old from the Scone stable of Jeremy Gask finished down the track first up in the $250,000 Country Open event at Randwick on November 4. He has a very good second up record and if the rain arrives his prospects will be enhanced as all of his seven wins have been on wet tracks.
Saturdays Newcastle meeting on the Beaumont track is the Biggest Christmas Party Race Day Sponsored by Bass Floor, and all the function areas are fully booked out. The NJC race again on Tuesday hosting the Wine Country meeting and then finishing off the year is the huge Boxing Day Race meeting on December 26.
