Gary Harley – Preview – 21.03.24

Race 1 – Australian Bloodstock 4yo & Up Maiden Handicap 1600m

Hellbetta was disappointing first up at Kembla, but his form last preparation suggests he will be hard to beat in this field on his home track.

Sanbano ran her best race when she was a close second on this track last start.

Himeros had a tough run at Kembla last start, but he was placed in his previous three starts.

Selections:        3 – Hellbetta                 8 – Sanbano                6 – Himeros

Race 2 – Sharp Office 2YO Maiden Plate 1200m

Fearless is fourth favourite for the Group 1 Sires, so he is a class above this field. He is a Group 3 placegetter, and his run was outstanding in the Group 1 Blue Diamond.

Stablemate Media World, a $1million yearling, is clearly the second pick and Justice Please is best of the others.

Selections:        3 – Fearless                  7 – Media World                      10 – Justice Please

Race 3 – Coastline Pool & Spa Midway Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1850m

Dunaloce has had three starts this preparation for a win and two placings, all at Newcastle. She was narrowly beaten first run over this longer trip last start and she is an on-speed runner.

Rattle And Hum is an import which will be fitter for his solid first up run at Kembla.

Long Memory had no luck at Kembla last start.

Selections:        5 – Dunaloce               3 – Rattle And Hum                  6 – Long Memory

Race 4 – Hungerford Hill Wines Maiden Handicap 900m

Callistemon has been placed in four of her six starts and is first up after a quiet trial. She was placed over a longer trip last start at Canterbury in November but should sprint well fresh.

Chocolate Isle is on debut but has been trialing well and Russian Rose has a chance.

Selections:        5 – Callistemon            1 – Chocolate Isle                    10 – Russian Rose

Race 5 – Davali TBS Easter Yearlings Benchmark 64 Handicap 900m

This is a very fast short course field. Party Doll resumes after two satisfactory trials. She is very quick and has had two Newcastle starts for a win and a second. She is well weighted with the claim.

Outishka bolted in over this course in February and Debussy likes this track.

Selections:        9 – Party Doll                1 – Outishka                2 – Debussy

Race 6 – I Am Invincible Easter Yearlings Provincial Class 1 Handicap 1200m

Monte Kate hasn’t raced since a close third at Warwick Farm in January but has trialed okay. She has never been out of a place in four starts, draws nicely and Tommy Berry rides.

Nightcapped races well on this track while Scholl Deep is close to a win.

Selections:        2 – Monte Kate 5 – Nightcapped                      7 – Scholl Deep

Race 7 – NZB Insurance Super 3yo & Up Maiden Plate 1200m

Primo is resuming without a trial and both runs he started favourite, and both runs were good. He was very unlucky last start on the Kensington track in October when he was held up the entire home straight.

I Am Breathing is on debut after a 5-length barrier trial win and New Forest is a Canterbury placegetter.

Selections:        1 – Primo                     2 – I Am Breathing                   5 – New Forest

Race 8 – The Prince of Merewether Class 1 Handicap 1400m

Tamaroa is crying out for this trip after a luckless run at Gosford last start. He was held up all the way down the straight. Two starts back his Warwick Farm placing was full of merit.

Edited By won well last start and Piercing Arrow will be fitter.

Selections:        4 – Tamaroa                6 – Edited By                2 – Piercing Arrow
