Gary Harley – Preview 27.02.21

RACE 1 – NEWCASTLE MBA APPRENTICE SCHEMES MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

In Flanders has been placed in all four starts this prep and she has drawn ideally. The filly was runner up in a very strong Gosford Maiden last start and she will appreciate the longer trip.

Oblique ran on strong when runner up in his only start on the Sunshine Coast in October and he trialled impressively at Randwick recently.

Antarctic Pride is on debut and is trialling well.

SELECTIONS: 5- In Flanders          9- Oblique    10- Antarctic Pride

RACE 2 – ALL STEEL SHEDS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE 900M

Athelric has very good form for a Provincial Maiden. In October the colt was beaten 2.8 lengths by Magic Millions winner Shaquero in the Group 3 Breeders Plate. First up two weeks ago he finished fourth to Stay Inside one of the Golden Slipper favourites.

Glittery closed off nicely on debut at the Kensington track earlier this month and Tidal Impact is very quick.

SELECTIONS: 1- Athelric     16- Glittery    14 Tidal Impact

RACE 3 – MASTER BUILDERS INSURANCE BROKERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1500M

Moremi is a promising filly resuming. She was placed in her only two starts at Canterbury and Wyong in November. She ran on under a hold in a recent 900 metre trial at Rosehill and as she is bred to stay, this trip is ideal first up.

No Question will appreciate the longer trip in his third race start.

Lava has been placed on this track.

SELECTIONS: 7- Moremi     2- No Question        6- Lava

RACE 4 – BUILDCERT CONDITIONAL BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 900M

Mr Polar has found a suitable race over a trip in which he has won two races. He has been narrowly beaten at Gosford in two of his past four starts. He has won over 900 on this track and he has drawn favourably.

Air Marshall hasn’t raced since a Randwick Highway win in October but he should sprint well fresh.

Tallis is speedy and could prove hard to catch.

SELECTIONS: 7- Mr Polar    1- Air Marshall         8- Tallis

RACE 5 – HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M

Yardstick is the class runner in this field. He was an easy all the way winner of a Canterbury Maiden in July and he was only beaten two lengths by Mo’unga in the Listed Dulcify. He resumes after a nice trial behind a proven city class horse and has a soft barrier.

On Her Word has had no luck in all three starts this prep and is well placed.

Oslo bolted in first up for his new trainer recently.

SELECTIONS: 1- Yardstick             7- On Her Word      4- Oslo

RACE 6 – MBA NSW HUNTER DIVISION BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1400M

Favra was a good thing beaten on this track on February 18. He has a good record on this track where he has a win and five placings from six starts. He loves a long straight so he can unwind and he has a three-kilogram claim for Dylan Gibbons.

French Bonnet is a promising filly and she was an easy Maiden winner at this track on Boxing Day.

Call Me Mo has a place chance.

SELECTIONS: 5- Favra        9- French Bonnet      8- Call Me Mo

RACE 7 – POLYTRACK PROVINCIAL QUALIFIER 1400M

Bombasay is at double figure odds and he will give a good sight. He was a last start Randwick winner in October and he was impressive in a recent Wyong trial win. He has a solid record of 14 starts for five wins and six placings.

Forget Crystal Breezes’ last run when she had an issue in the barrier and ended up with blood in one nostril. He is a good fresh horse.

Pandano races well on his home track and he is a last start Randwick winner.

SELECTIONS: 2- Bombasay 4- Crystal Breeze      5- Pandano

RACE 8 – MASTER BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF NSW CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1600M

Land Ahoy is a promising stayer which had no luck first up at Hawkesbury recently. The filly has only had five starts and she was placed in her only start on this track in September. She may develop into an Oaks contender.

Saquon won a Gosford Maiden on a heavy track last prep and he was nosed out at Muswellbrook first up.

Akasawa was very unlucky first up at Muswellbrook.

SELECTIONS: 12- Land Ahoy         2- Saquon              6- Akasawa
