Newcastle Preview 07.05.19

Race 1- East Cessnock Bowling Club 3YO Maiden Plate 1400m

Regent Street was well backed on debut on Anzac Day at Randwick when he hit the line hard to go down by a head. He was drawn well and McEvoy rides.

Statuesquely is on debut after three nice trials and Scepter Of Power is on a quick back up after a close second at Wyong last Thursday.

Selections:
4- Regent Street

8- Statuesquely

5- Scepter Of Power

Race 2- Elegant Blooms F&M Benchmark 64 Handicap 1500m

Romantic Whisper led all the way to win at Randwick on Anzac Day. She was second up that day following a creditable placing in a classy Maiden here at Newcastle. She will probably lead and prove hard to run down.

Mojito was run down late at Kembla last start and from a soft draw will be on the speed.

Ducale was an impressive winner on this track last start.

Selections:
2- Romantic Whisper

7- Mojito

3- Ducale

Race 3- Jennings Print Maiden Handicap 1300m

Constellations struck a Heavy 9 track when she failed in her only start at Kembla in October. She was narrowly beaten in a recent Randwick trial and she has drawn well.

Hot Dude showed speed when runner up on debut here recently and Dubai Harbour has a chance

Selections:

5- Constellations

1- Hot Dude

3- Dubai Harbour

Race 4- Ascend Sales Conditional Sprint- Class 4 Handicap 900m

Another Sin has blistering speed and he will jump and run over the 900. He was beaten less than half a length in record time at Muswellbrook last start. He won a Randwick Highway in his first race start.

Skyray races well first up and will probably drop back and run on.

Moralist was impressive first up at Nowra recently

Selections:
2- Another Sin

1- Skyray

6- Moralist

Race 5- IER- Focused Thinking Maiden Handicap 1600m

Counterfeited has had no luck in recent starts and he will appreciate the 1600. He was three wide no cover here last start when he was beaten less than half a length.

Royal Anthem has been runner up in her past three starts and she has a chance.

Selections:

8- Counterfeited

1- Killer Instinct

3- Royal Anthem

Race 6- Bell Partners 2YO Maiden Plate 1400m

Sea Of Life has a horror draw but he was very good on debut at Warwick Farm. He was three wide with out cover before finishing strongly when second behind the smart Erno.

Autocratic had no luck in the Fernhill

Selections:

8- Sea Of Life

7- Prince Fawaz

1- Autocratic

Race 7- De Bortoli Wines Class 1 Handicap 1200m

A very open race but Loved One has drawn well and she was a winner on the track in November. She had a couple of recent Randwick trials and she has raced well first up.

Steamboat Sally was disappointing first up on this track after coming from Victoria but expect a big improvement.

Ms Rodarte has been lightly races since winning a Canterbury 2yo race twelve months ago

Selections:

6- Loved One

4- Steamboat Sally

1- Ms Rodarte

Race 8- Rydges Newcastle CG&E Benchmark 64 Handicap 1500m

Former Kiwi Warset could make it back to back wins after his easy win on this track a couple of weeks back. He races well back but is very strong and the longer trip is ideal.

Mo The Great races well fresh and he was held up on the turn when a close fourth first up at Wyong.

Oakfield General’s both wins have been on this track

Selections:

5- Warset

3- Mo The Great

14- Oakfield General
