Community Unites to Raise Funds for Brain Cancer Research
Newcastle Racecourse is proud to announce the return of the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) Race Day on Saturday, June 7, 2025. This annual event, held during Beanies for Brain Cancer Month, aims to raise vital funds and awareness for brain cancer research and patient support.
The MHF Race Day has become a cornerstone in the community’s efforts to combat brain cancer. With each ticket to the MHF Marquee sold, $30 is directly donated to the Mark Hughes Foundation, supporting their mission to fund research, raise awareness, and provide support to those affected by brain cancer. Additional fundraising activities, including auctions and merchandise sales, will take place throughout the day.
“We’re honoured to continue our partnership with the Mark Hughes Foundation for this significant event,” said Duane Dowell, CEO of Newcastle Racecourse.
“The Race Day not only offers thrilling racing action but also brings our community together to support a
cause that touches many lives.”
This year’s event will feature a full day of racing, live entertainment, and various hospitality packages, including the MHF Marquee, Pavilion Room and Chevals Restaurant experiences. Attendees are encouraged to don their MHF beanies in solidarity with those battling brain cancer.
Mark Hughes, former Newcastle Knights player and founder of the MHF, expressed his gratitude, “The support from Newcastle Racecourse and our community is incredible. Each year, the Race Day grows stronger, helping us make significant strides in brain
cancer research and support services.”
Tickets for the Mark Hughes Foundation Race Day are available now, ranging from general admission to premium hospitality packages.
Both Duane Dowell and Mark Hughes will be available for interviews on the day, and media are invited to attend and help shine a light on this important community event.
