A celebration of tourism, community, and giving back
Newcastle Racecourse is proud to announce the return of the Port Stephens Cup Race Day on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, inviting local businesses, tourism operators, and community members to come together for a day of thoroughbred racing, regional pride, and meaningful community impact.
Held in partnership with Destination Port Stephens and supported by local councils and stakeholders, this mid-winter race day is designed to highlight one of the Hunter’s most iconic destinations while providing an opportunity for the tourism and hospitality sector to connect, relax, and celebrate their contribution to the local visitor economy.
“Port Stephens is more than a destination – it’s a community with heart”, said Jo Thomas, CEO of Destination Port Stephens. This event is a fantastic way to support a great local cause, enjoy a day out at one of our region’s signature venues, and shine a spotlight on everything Port Stephens has to offer to a wider audience. We’re proud to be part of an event that combines celebration with social good.
Guests can enjoy an exclusive race day experience in The Pavilion, complete with a gourmet two-course lunch and premium views of the track, all for just $75 per person. More than just a day at the races, $10 from every Pavilion Room ticket sold and $200 from each race sponsorship will go directly towards ‘The Sporting Hope Association’ – Port Stephens, a local charity supporting individuals and families in need.
The Port Stephens Cup Race Day is a key event in Newcastle Racecourse’s regional engagement calendar, which aims to build collaborative connections across Newcastle, Port Stephens, and the broader Hunter area. Businesses, government representatives, and community leaders are warmly invited to attend and support the shared vision of regional growth and social impact.
“Port Stephens is a much-loved destination for both locals and visitors. By hosting this event, we’re not only showcasing the region’s exceptional tourism offerings, but also supporting the community that makes it so special,” said Duane Dowell, CEO at Newcastle Racecourse.
Tickets to the luncheon are now available online. Limited Sponsorship opportunities remain to be part of this uplifting event that blends racing excitement with coastal charm and community generosity.
