  • Dress/tailored shorts
  • Closed in shoes

Not acceptable:

  • Tracksuits, board shorts, cargo shorts or footy/sports/running shorts
  • Any torn or ripped clothing
  • Any form of the following footwear: joggers/runners, sports/track shoes, sandals, thongs, ‘crocs’, dilapidated footwear, scuffs, gumboots or slippers.

Courtesy Bus

Newcastle Racecourse operates a complimentary courtesy bus that runs from Newcastle Racecourse to The Prince of Merewether after Saturday race meetings. This bus runs on loop from 3:30pm onwards and the pickup location is on Darling St.

Air Travel

The closest airport is Newcastle Airport, a short 35 minute drive from Newcastle. Newcastle Airport is serviced by several airlines from major cities including Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Driving & Parking

Newcastle Racecourse is ideally located on Darling Street, Broadmeadow – just 3km outside of Newcastle’s CBD.

Newcastle Racecourse offers over 300 complimentary parking spaces within their parking grounds.  On street parking is also available on Darling and Chatham street.

Do I need to pre-book my entry tickets?

Depending on the race day, and which type of ticket or package you would like to purchase, you may need to pre-book. Please see our individual race days for pricing if you wish to attend – click here. Typically, you can save money on General Admission tickets by purchasing online, however if you would like to purchase your tickets on the day at the gate, the price may increase.

How do I book hospitality, restaurant dining or a private function?

Depending on the venue and type of booking you wish to make, you may be able to book online. For some venues and booking types, you will need to contact our Events Team.

How do I get to the racecourse? / Can I park my car there?

What should I wear to the races?

Is the racecourse child friendly?

Children 18 years and under are permitted to attend the racecourse when accompanied by a suitable parent or guardian.

Where can I purchase a racebook?

Racebooks are included in many of our hospitality packages. Otherwise, they can be purchased from our Information Booth, the Newmarket Bar or the Members Lounge.

Are midweek races free entry?

Yes, all of our midweek race meetings are free entry for all ages, with the exception of feature race days such as the Spring and Autumn Racing Carnivals.

Can I bring in food and drinks?

Unfortunately, no. Due to strict food safety regulations, we ask that guests do not bring any external food or beverages onto the racecourse grounds. This helps us to better manage food handling practices, allergen control and hygiene across the racecourse ensuring a safe environment for everyone.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

We completely understand that some guests have specific dietary needs. If you have any special requirements please don’t hesitate to speak with our friendly team. We’ll do our best to accommodate you and ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Do you offer a student/concession price for entry?

Yes we offer a Student/Concession General Admission Price of $10* at the main gate. Be sure to bring a valid student ID/Concession card! *Price may vary for Feature Race Days.
