STARS of Newcastle Dance for Cancer and Newcastle Racecourse unite

    Stars of Newcastle Race Day

Celebrate 10 years of glamour, generosity and giving back for The Stars of Newcastle Dance for Cancer

One of Newcastle’s most beloved charity events, The STARS of Newcastle Dance for Cancer is back and bigger than ever on Saturday, 1 November 2025 at NEX.

The event, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has a bold goal to raise more than $175,000 for the Cancer Council of NSW.

“Every year, around 50,000 people in New South Wales will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. It is a moment that changes lives, not just for the individual, but also for their family, friends, and their local community,” said Brooke Farr, the Community Fundraising Coordinator for the Cancer Council NSW.

“Reaching our fundraising target will help us to fulfil our role of supporting Australian’s affected by cancer throughout their journey, and events like the STARS of Newcastle Dance for Cancer make this possible,”

This year’s STARS of Newcastle Dance for Cancer will once again shine a spotlight on local community leaders who have been nominated by their peers to perform dazzling dance routines with the help of a professional dance partner.

“It’s a night of entertainment, inspiration and heartfelt storytelling, all in the name of cancer research, prevention and support,”

To help kick off the gala and celebrate its ten-year anniversary, this year Cancer Council NSW will hold a race day at Newcastle Racecourse.

“We are inviting the Newcastle Community to put on their dancing shoes and join us for a stylish and spirited day by the track to help support each of our dancing STARS,”

Newcastle Racecourse CEO, Duane Dowell, expressed his enthusiasm in the Racecourse partnering with Cancer Council NSW to assist them in furthering their fundraising efforts this year and pre-promotion of the gala event.

“Many in our local community have a personal story whereby they themselves or a family member or friend has been touched by cancer, so it’s important to create events like this race day and the STARS of Newcastle Dance for Cancer where we can shed light on the cause and raise funds that make a difference,” said Duane Dowell.

“We are also asking local businesses to get on board and support a dancer by becoming a Race Naming Rights Sponsor. This includes a limited offer VIP Hospitality Package in the Pavilion room for 10 guests.”
