
2024-25 NJC Premiership Award Winners
The Newcastle Jockey Club made presentations to the 2024-25 Premiership winners during the first race meeting of the Spring Racing Carnival on September 19. The following were the Premiership winners:
Horse Of the Year: Private Harry- In the season was undefeated in five starts for prizemoney of $1.963 million. He graduated from a Newcastle debut Maiden win in November 2024 to win the $3million Group 3 Sunlight on the Sunshine Coast in January before a Group 1 The Galaxy victory at Rosehill in March.
Two Year Old Of The Year: Rivellino: Trainer Kris Lees. 5 Starts- 3 Wins in the season for prize money of $1.696 Million. The colt won the $2Million Randwick Millennium and group 2 Randwick Skyline before finishing fourth in the Golden Slipper.
Rising Star: Benjamin Osmond: the Dungog boy is apprenticed to Kris Lees and rode 58 winners during the season, 22 on metropolitan tracks. He is a late maturer into racing in his mid-20’s and he finished fourth in the metropolitan apprentices’ premierships.

Apprentices Premiership: Braith Nock: 10 Wins
