Selections: 1- Galifianakis           9- Pavitra      8- Parsonage Lane

Race 2 – Newcastle Knights Class 1 Handicap 1600m

Martini Crusader defied a huge betting drift to bolt in on this track two weeks ago. He is a former Victorian who has had two starts in NSW. He was a close and eye catching second at Wyong first up before the Newcastle win. Promising apprentice Zac Lloyd has the mount again and he claims 1½kg.

Amarantz races well here and is the main threat while Pacheco has a place chance.

Selections: 1- Martini Crusader 2- Amarantz            3- Pacheco

Race 3 – Slattery Auctions & Valuations Maiden Plate 900m

Dashing Legend is a quality filly resuming after good Group form in the Autumn. She wasn’t far away in the Reisling and was beaten less than a length in a 2yo Maiden on the Kensington track on debut in February. She was very impressive in winning a recent trial.

Kin had a very quiet trial and Iknowastar is very quick.

Selections: 11- Dashing Legend            13- Kin            8- Iknowastar

Race 4- Seyon Virtual Reality Maiden Handicap 1400m

Absolute Star has no luck when fourth first up on this track on August 6. He was slowly away then trapped three deep with no cover, and the blinkers go on for Saturday.

Selections:    2- Absolute Star      4- Prize Draw           6- Great Southernland

Race 5 – Goodyear Newcastle F&M Benchmark 64 Handicap 1400m

Highly Ambitious was narrowly beaten on this track last start and Yasamine won well at Goulburn first up.

Selections:    8- Tycoon Hallie      6- Highly Ambitious           5- Yasamine

Race 6 – Eight Recruitment Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap 1250m

Ang Pow has outstanding country form, and he resumes here. Since moving to Rosehill, he has won two trials in good style.

Rocstar Boy bolted in here two starts back and he got a mile back last start at Kembla.

Annulus is chasing a hat trick.

Selections:    7- Ang Pow              6- Rocstar Boy         8- Annulus

Race 7 – Drayton Group Maiden Handicap 1250m

The unraced Grand Crusader looks smart, and he gets the nod in an open race. He was narrowly beaten by his talented stablemate Dashing Legend in a recent trial. He won’t be far off the lead and he will appreciate the big track.

Yankee Hussel looked good in a recent Wyong trial.

Avebury was a close second at Kembla at its only start.

Selections: 1- Grand Crusader 7- Yankee Hussel    8- Avebury

Race 8 – Tipp-Exc Civil CG&E Benchmark 64 Handicap 1400m

Selections:    5- Endorsement      19- Rebel’s Edge    12- Capital Asset
