Media Release: Newcastle Racecourse Launches Community Support Program

In a dedicated effort to foster community development, Newcastle Racecourse is excited to launch its Community Support Program, a new initiative aimed at providing financial grant funding support to charities and community groups in the Greater Newcastle area.

This initiative complements the Newcastle Jockey Club’s established Charity Race Day Program, collectively raising over $500,000 annually to local charities.  2024 will host more than a dozen fundraising focused race days benefiting Hunter Melanoma Foundation, Newcastle Cystic Fibrosis Community, Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, Lifeline Hunter and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service to name a few.

The new grant funding program invites applications from eligible groups seeking grants of up to $2,000 to support projects benefiting the local community. Applications will be accepted every quarter, with a selection committee meticulously choosing the most deserving recipients in each period.

Newcastle Racecourse CEO Duane Dowell is delighted to be able to offer this program to the Newcastle community.

“This community support program will really make a difference within our community, so we’re thrilled to be able to assist in providing positive outcomes especially with our younger Novocastrians.”

Quarter one project applications are open until 29 March, with the successful groups advised soon after. Eligibility is open to Charity, Sporting, Community and School groups within the Greater Newcastle Area with a focus on supporting children and young people.

Examples of projects include sports equipment, team uniforms, musical instruments, upgrades to facilities, safety equipment, services and products that will enhance the group’s activities.
