An initiative launched by Newcastle Racecourse in January 2024 has already had a positive impact on the local community.
The Newcastle Jockey Club Community Support Program allows local community groups and charities to apply for grants of up to $2,000 every quarter, with the chosen applicant carefully selected by a committee.
As one of the first recipients of the grant, Adamstown Rosebud Junior Football Club (ARJFC), recently received new soccer goals.
ARJFC Vice President, Michelle Crawley, extended her gratitude to Newcastle Racecourse on behalf of the club.
“To say that our players and committee are excited to qualify for the $2,000 grant would be an understatement. We have had a positive response from a lot of grateful players and parents,” said Ms. Crawley.
“Goals are one thing that needs replacement on a regular basis and are probably the most requested item coming from our coaching staff,”
“We would like to thank the Newcastle Jockey Club and Newcastle Racecourse for their generosity towards the club.”
CEO of Newcastle Racecourse, Duane Dowell, was pleased to be there to help MiniRoo’s and JDL Players of ARJFC celebrate the arrival of their new goals.
“It was a pleasure to meet with members of the Adamstown Rosebud Junior Football Committee, the teams and to see the excitement on the children’s faces,” said Duane.
“Providing these goals is the first of many projects Newcastle Racecourse hope to achieve in our local community, with applications currently open for round two of the Community Support Program.”
Applications for round two of the Newcastle Racecourse Community Support Program should be submitted by Friday 28th of June 2024.

About Adamstown Rosebud Junior Football Club:
Adamstown Rosebud Junior Football Club caters to male and female soccer players aged from those turning five (in 2024) through to fifteen years.
Mini-Roo’s teams consist of five- to eleven-year-old girls, boys, and mixed teams, whilst their Junior Development Girls teams and Women’s Premier League teams are selected through a rigorous trial process and are controlled and evaluated by Northern NSW Football. The club does not field boys JDL teams as these are run by their neighbouring club, Adamstown Rosebud FC.
